Basic Digital Skills - Task 1: The Sixth Sense

Figure 1: The end result

Figure 2: The image together with the accompanying sound

Rationale:

The resulting sound from the recording only includes the sound of footsteps walking around a corridor, so the resulting recording came out dull and uninteresting. For this task, I wanted to deliberately create a dull, monotonous visual representing the recording, so I mostly used less saturated colours of blue and green for the visual. Blue and green are supposed to be calming colours, but by decreasing its saturation and selecting colours that are close to grey, they become very boring and dull to look at.

The square shape and green lines are the contrast in this visual, and they represent the repetition present in the sound - the sound of footsteps walking around the same corridor. The contrast in volume (as the sound of footsteps are a little louder in some places) are represented through different shades of the desaturated green: lighter greens mean the sound is louder as it is more striking, while darker green represents a softer volume (since the dark green nearly blends into the background colour).
